The weekend started off early on Saturday morning with some artisan grilled cheeses to give us some energy (though Dylan missed out). It was a fairly rainy day, but any UTOCer knows that a little rain isn't enough to stop us from making some bad decisions! Off to the Bruce Trail!
Thankfully the Bruce wasn't as muddy as it sometimes is in the rain. Liz and Esra were... very into the moss growing on some of the rocks. We also saw the cutest dog borking around the trail and the entirety of the UTOC exec took the time to become his friend.
After spending the day hiking and lounging in the couches, night rolled around, and we noticed we had an unwanted guest. A bat was flying around the cabin. We got pots and pans and tried to shoo it out of the back door, but the poor guy was too confused to find his way out. We managed to get him underneath a lid, but unfortunately the lil' guy didn't make it out alive. We gave him a proper burial.
If you thought it impossible to make a fire with wet firewood, you clearly underestimate the power and determination of UTOCers who really want a fire. We somehow managed to scrounge up bits of sticks and keep a fire going for a few hours in the wet fireplace. Even more impressive, Liz and co were able to cook some cinnamon rolls in our oven from another century. Everyone got their choice of under or overcooked!
As with all things, the cabin weekend came to an end on Sunday. The new exec for this year is looking to be one of the best teams I've seen yet, so I hope you look forward to this coming year in UTOC!!!
