This weekend had it all: hiking, caving, swimming at the beach, too many cooks in the kitchen, bonfires, sunsets, and going from a group of strangers to friends in one weekend. Truly, the classic UTOC Cabin Experience™
Our one group photo that actually got everyone in frame
The trip got off to a bit of a late start, with plenty of people arriving at the cabin after it was dark. But then again, it really wouldn't have felt like a UTOC trip if we had started on time. It also gave some the experience of waking up and realizing that they are, in fact, in a cabin in the middle of the woods.
The hiking crew
The caving crew
The next morning, we split into two groups: one that took a hike around on the Kolapore Trails and another that had impeccable communication while navigating both the Dining Room and Chimney caves. We all met up after lunch and took a drive to the Christie Beach Conservation Area.
We found some bushes to block the wind
The water was shallow and freezing cold, and the wind could just about knock you over, but that didn't stop us from thoroughly enjoying the bright sun and the soft sand.
We got back to the cabin hungry and Bob shared some of the tips he picked up during the time he worked as a chef.
Patiently waiting for dinner, passing the time with conversation and board games
After dinner, we went up on top of Metcalf Rock to catch the sunset before spending the rest of the night telling stories and playing word games by the bonfire.
